Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 — Maple Ridge, BC: The Conservative Party of British Columbia is thrilled to announce former Maple Ridge Mayor Mike Morden as its candidate for the upcoming provincial election in the riding of Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows.
“I’m excited to represent the community I’ve called home for over 38 years,” said Morden. “Now, more than ever, our province desperately needs change.
Communities are under siege with crime and street disorder, and people struggle to access the help they need. Senior government policies are failing everywhere. Local governments get so many problems dumped on them; this heavy-handed approach is not working to solve anything. The social safety net is failing, and no one can get the help they need, particularly access to healthcare.
Homes are unaffordable. 90K left BC in 2023, with a further 1 in 3 contemplating leaving. Government spending is unsustainable, and taxes are out of control.
Mike Morden will implement common-sense policies for a future where communities are complete and safe, a home is possible, and families can stay together with local jobs in a thriving economy that works for everyone. He is ready to bring his business and elected experience to tackle complex problems head-on and drive much-needed change, ensuring that all British Columbians will have the opportunity to succeed and enjoy a good quality of life.
“As a former mayor, I have a great understanding of what people and businesses face today. With my business experience, long-term community involvement, and local government experience, I know that what BC needs right now is a government that works for the people. Let’s rebuild the BC dream for everyone.”
“Mike’s experience as Mayor of Maple Ridge will be a great asset to our team and the province,” said Conservative leader John Rustad. “His understanding of municipal needs and his advocacy for better government will make him a terrific MLA for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows.”
